The Compact Hebe Combo brings together five hardy, low-growing New Zealand hebes selected for their contrasting foliage, compact forms and ability to perform with minimal fuss. With shades ranging from fresh green through silvery blue-grey and glaucous blue-green, the mix creates a clean, contemporary look while remaining naturally informal. These tough evergreen shrubs are particularly useful for mass planting, borders, banks, rock gardens and modern low-maintenance landscapes, and are well suited to challenging conditions including cold, wind, exposed alpine environments and many coastal situations. Their varied spreading and rounded habits create year-round structure, with seasonal flowers adding an extra layer of interest.

The pack is made as follows:

• 5x Hebe townsonii – A compact, hardy native hebe forming a dense rounded shrub with attractive deep green foliage. Produces masses of white to pale lilac flowers, providing excellent seasonal colour and attracting bees and other beneficial insects. Tough and adaptable, it is ideal for borders, mass planting, exposed sites and low-maintenance native gardens. Mature Height 80cm × Width 80cm.
• 5x Hebe laingii – A distinctive compact native hebe with fine, closely packed foliage arranged along attractive branching stems, giving the plant an unusual conifer-like texture and form. Small white flowers appear seasonally above the foliage, attracting bees and other pollinators. An excellent hardy shrub for native borders, rock gardens, mass planting and exposed landscapes. Mature Height 60cm × Width 80cm.

• 5x Hebe (Veronica) pinguifolia ‘Sutherlandii’ - A compact, dense, and highly popular NZ native shrub, prized for its tidy low-growing form and exceptional hardiness. With very small light blue-green leaves and masses of white flowers from spring through autumn, it is an ideal choice for borders, edging, banks, and low-maintenance landscape designs.  Mature Height 60cm x Width 1m

• 5x Hebe fruticeti – Hebe fruticeti – A tough NZ native hebe with small evergreen foliage and a naturally bushy, somewhat irregular growth habit. Well suited to colder, exposed and challenging sites, where it provides dependable year-round structure while retaining an informal natural appearance. Height: 1m × Width: 1m.

• 5x Hebe subalpina – Hebe subalpina – A very hardy native hebe with dense green foliage and masses of attractive white flowers. Naturally suited to cool, exposed and mountainous environments, it is an excellent choice for alpine-style gardens, difficult sites and mixed native plantings where toughness and seasonal flowering are required. Height: 1m × Width: 1m.

Together, the five varieties create a collection that combines toughness with a modern, cohesive appearance. Their relatively low mature heights and varied widths allow the plants to knit together into attractive mass plantings while retaining subtle differences in form, texture and foliage colour. Once established, the collection requires relatively little maintenance and is an excellent solution for gardeners wanting hardy evergreen structure without high-input gardening—particularly in exposed, cool-climate, coastal or alpine-inspired landscapes.
