Fun Fact / Botanical Insight:

The original wineberry hybrid that led to the well-known Pioneer Collection was discovered near Lake Wakatipu. A Central Otago breeding programme has since produced several hardy wineberry cultivars, selected specifically for toughness and performance in alpine environments.
