Austroderia richardii is a striking New Zealand native grass forming large, graceful clumps of arching green foliage. Allow plenty of room for the plant to develop naturally, as established specimens become considerably larger than most ornamental grasses.

Care & Maintenance

Austroderia richardii is relatively low maintenance once established. Water during establishment and during extended dry periods while young. Older or damaged foliage can be removed as required to keep plants tidy.

For a more natural landscape or restoration-style planting, very little ongoing maintenance is necessary.

Additional Tips

Give plants sufficient space from paths, driveways and frequently used areas, as the mature foliage forms a substantial spreading clump. It works particularly well where its natural size and flowing form can be allowed to develop without heavy trimming.
