Phormium ‘Pink Panther’
Common names: Pink Panther Flax, New Zealand Flax
Family: Asphodelaceae
Origin: New Zealand cultivar
Plant Type: Evergreen Flax / Architectural Foliage Plant
Overview
Phormium ‘Pink Panther’ is a striking compact New Zealand flax grown for its vibrant pink, coral-red and bronze-toned foliage. Its bold colour and strong architectural form provide year-round interest, making it an excellent choice for feature planting, borders, contemporary landscapes and mass planting.
More compact than many traditional flaxes, ‘Pink Panther’ is particularly useful where the distinctive form and toughness of Phormium are wanted without a large mature plant. Hardy and relatively low maintenance, it performs well across a wide range of New Zealand garden conditions.

Fun Fact / Botanical Insight
Phormiums are commonly called New Zealand flax, although they are not true flaxes. Their long, fibrous leaves made native Phormium species enormously important to Māori, who developed numerous traditional uses for harakeke fibre.
